City
of Middleton Master Transportation Plan - This project involved
the inventory of existing roads condition using GPS survey and future
transportation planning in the Middleton Impact Area. Geometric alignment,
passing and sight distances, lane and shoulder widths, lane configurations,
pedestrian pathways, existing traffic on SH 44 and other roadways, the
surrounding land use and zoning were factors taken into consideration
for the study. The intersections along State Highway 44 were analyzed
for existing and future traffic conditions. A Technical Advisory Committee
was formed to provide input and suggestions to prepare the plan. COMPASS
developed a travel demand forecast model for the study area to forecast
future travel demand. Project involved a public workshop to obtain comments
from the public. Comments and input from the City of Middleton, Canyon
County Highway District #4, COMPASS and ITD helped to determine future
developments such as future roadways, alternate SH 44 route, pedestrian
and bike routes, signalized intersections. Recommendations were then
made to the City, which included a Capital Improvement Project list.
Plan was adopted in September 2007.
